30 minutes and 3 dollars...

Seriously, 30 minutes and $3 is about all it took for this wreath project!

I'm so pleased with how it turned out:

So have you guessed the material yet?

Well, if you haven't guessed it...it's
COFFEE FILTERS!!

Yes, Ma'am.
Who knew they could be so pretty?
and for most homes, you already have them on stock!
{If you don't, then this project may be more like $5...}

All you need are the following:
Coffee Filters (I bought unbleached for the brown look...you could also use white and dye them with food colouring or coffee!)
Ribbon
MDF/Cardboard Circle which are typically used for floral displays. This one is from Michaels and was $1.69
Also, a frame! Like this one below that I found at Salvation Army Thrift Store for $1.50 and spray painted it with Krylon Ivory spray paint!
Don't have a frame? why not hang it in front of a mirror?

Holding the bottom of the coffee filter, crumple and twist up the bottom and glue down onto your mdf ring.

Don't forget to WHISTLE WHILE YOU WORK...
{I hang out with kids too much}

This is the first layer down, I did three layers total.
The first two layers, I glued it with the ruffles facing outward, and the small inner circle layer I glued it facing inward then folded them gently back to make a cleaner look...but it's all very forgiving!

Voila! DONE.

I couldn't quite hang it up yet since my frame was still drying...so I had a little fun trying it out other places:

Once the frame was dry, I hung the ribbon over and glue gunned it to the back of the wreath!
Loves it.

I'm loving the bit of dimension it gives my hallway!!

Also, I'm all about giving credit where credit is due, but I've seen this idea a couple of places now and have no where to link back to for the original concept!
Someone msg me if you know!

UPDATE: Thank you "The Little Brown House" for commenting and linking me back to your blog, which is one of the places I saw this idea!!
Check her's out...bit if a different technique, but soooo great!
See her tutorial HERE.
Here's a pic of hers as well:

Thanks for looking :)

That is so pretty. I want to try one! How many coffee filters did you use? I haven't seen a box like that (of filters), so I'm just curious. Thank you!

It looks great. I made one a few months ago out of book pages that is similar and I love it. You are right about the nice depth it gives. It's also got great textures. Love yours. Partying with you...
