Grow your own Wheat Grass!

I have the best neighbors.
Like, seriously the kind you borrow a bowl of sugar from (and we have).
They're great.

My one neighbor, Nicolle brought over a sweet little gift to me last week, and it's been growing ever since.

I love it so much, and thought I'd share.

Here's how you can grow your own:
First, buy some Wheat Berries from your local Bulk Barn.

They look like this:

Then soak the berries for about 4-5 days, until you see them start to sprout.

Then plant them very shallow in soil.

Then make sure you water your potted wheat grass and let them get sun.

In a day or two, you'll start to see this:

I labelled mine with chalkboard contact paper from Dollarama.

Here's some other decorative ideas I found with wheat grass:

So many ideas!
I love this as a little neighbor easter gift or hostess gift for whoever hosts your easter dinner.

Endless possibilities!

Thanks Nic, I love my wheatgrass and having you as a neighbor.

Hope you all get inspired to grow some of your own.
It's nice to have grass SOMEWHERE when the ground is still all a muck.

I'll be partying it up at these fine blogs

I love it! Remember I was going to do the long wooden box (like you posted in the "other ideas") for our wedding centerpieces? Then did IKEA trees and candy bowls instead ;)

I've always wondered how to grow this stuff!! This is a definite must have for my "new" kitchen. Question: What if I have no idea what a Bulk Barn is? Like, what's the USA equivalent? :) ::sipping my readily available Diet Dr. Pepper::

No offense but it looks like my cat grass!!
Do you use it only for decoration?

LOVE the look in the glass...so eye catching and appealing...

Totally laughing at the comment about borrowing the sugar from the neighbor. We live on a dirt road with the wildlife as our neighbors. There are a total of 4 houses on our 2 mile road. Today my daughter wanted to make CC cookies and we were out of butter. I told her to walk to the Stuart's and borrow some. She looked at me like I had two heads when I suggested it...Wave of the future...

Take care,
Lisa

Sarah,
My cats LOVE wheat grass! :)
I tend to grow it for them in the winter, when I can't bring real grass indoors for them to eat.
