Family Wall

A couple days ago I talked about the new frame collage in the girls room.
After that post, I remembered that I've been meaning to show you the ultimate photo wall/collage/family wall...whatever you may have it.
It's my absolutely favorite wall, because it's filled up with pictures of my family.

It's in my parents house.
This is their stairwell. You see it the second you walk in the door.

Each year when you ask my parents what they'd like for Christmas, they said "framed photos". So on Christmas Day post opening gifts, you'll see my Dad go hang them up, fiddling with them to be just right.

It all works with my theory that frame collages do not need to be preplanned.
Sometimes, you can just go with the flow.

I love how the frames pop out on the metallic painted walls.

The wall vinyl saying was a gift I gave them two years ago that I found on Etsy.

It goes WAAAY up!

UPDATE!

Here's some specifications that some have requested:

PAINT - "Bronze Statue" by Ralph Lauren Paint, Regent Metallics line (go HERE for more info on the paint)

Vinyl Decal - by VinylLettering found HERE

Beautiful! I love photo walls! Of course, there's not one wall around here that isn't covered, but I manage to find a way to add more. :) Have a great rest of the week. Tammy

I love this. The vinyl quote makes it 10x better. I've always wanted to do a collage wall but could never find the perfect space for it.

the paint color is Metallic Bronze.
It's from a Ralph Lauren line at the Home Depot and it's no longer carried here in Canada. Maybe in the states? good luck :)

I found your blog post through a link on Pinterest. This is just beautiful. I started a "Family" collage photo wall in our new home 2 1/2 years ago. My husband buys a new black collage frame each Christmas & birthday. I so enjoy filling them with wonderful candid shots of our family. I love this wall saying and am on my way to hopefully find one like it on Etsy. It will be the perfect addition. Thanks to you and your parents for sharing their beauiful wall!

What a fantastic idea. After we had our house painted, about six months ago, I held off on hanging our photos back up. I guess I was waiting to find this, thank you for sharing.

Saw your photo of your family wsll on Pinterest. Was trying to figure out how to do my stairwell and just wanted to say thanks for the inspiration!!

This is amazing! I literally just worked on my hallway this afternoon and ended up loving (and then hating) it. I used the 3M picture hanging strips (bc I have old plaster walls) and within an hour, pictures were bouncing off the walls. What did your parents use to hang their photos?

I can't seem to find the paint color anywhere. Ralph Lauren website does not have that paint color listed?

I just love this wall. I have been trying to think of a creative way to do a family tree going up the stairs but in way of painting an actual tree, yet I couldn't find any look that worked with my home decor. This wall, you have your family roots without the tree and it is beautiful. I really love this.

Thank you for sharing!! I just order the vinyl word art and cannot wait to put it up!! I really LOVE the way they displayed their photos!! It is beautiful!

I have a question about the size of the lettering. The link that you post shows it to be 12.5" x 26". Is this the size that you show? I have a big wall, very similar to your parents wall and want to make sure its big enough for the wall. I would like the "Family" to be 12.5" if possible. Can you give me some advise please. My email is 1loraeann@cox.net
Thank you,
Lorae

I love this, and want to do it on my stairwell. With 3 kids but my husband is concerned about them knocking the frames off when they go up and down. Did your parents use any special hanging device?
Thanks,

sandy

This is really nice! Also just by these pictures I am convinced your parents have the same style house as the one I just bought! Could you post any more pics of the rest of their house?

Love, love, love this wall! My husband actually sells this paint, he works at a small hardware store that carries Ralph Lauren paint. And I never would have thought that I would want metallic paint, but I'm so in love with this wall and how well it goes with the black frames. I'd love to see the rest of the space for more decor inspiration!

I so love this. We already have picture similar near our staircase however nothing that popped out like this. Thanks so much. This will be my next project

Awesome! I have a two story foyer, very similar to your parents. I'm working on our wall going up the stairs and I have a few walls upstairs that you can see from the lower level. I guess I'm asking is there ever too much with photos?

Love this idea. Thinking of where I can create one. Would also love to do one for the rabbits. www.rabbitsanctuary.com.au Each rescue rabbit to have a photo in a frame perhaps on a white wall. What an amazing achievement and thanks for sharing.

I love your wall.As a Grandmother I'm doing the same thing and I also tell my family I would prefer pictures for a gift. One other thing I did was put pictures of my children and their spouse during their younger years in a multiphoto frame. As their family grow I add their pictures. The grandkids get a kick looking at their parents and other family members at a young age.
