A while back I was totally inspired to make my first pennant banner.
I know...am I even a craft blogger if I've never made a pennant banner?
minor identity crisis averted, phew!
I loved this one that Krystal from Sassy Sanctuary did that was magnetic...mostly because I was so impressed that she started with
chipboard pennant!
So I went on the hunt to find my own chipboard pennant.
Since Krystal got hers in the US, and I'm in a country called Canada that's deprived from said stores who carry chipboard pennants, it was ETSY to the rescue!
I found this great shop called studioCee who carries all sorts of chipboard cut outs.
I ordered mine (for super cheap might I add) and they were here in no time.
So then I procrastinated for like a month
(WHAT ELSE IS NEW, RIGHT?)
But THEN finally I broke out my chalkboard spray paint and went to work on the pennants to make a Chalkboard Pennant Banner.
and
it's
awesome.
(if I do say so myself)
Here's what I did...
My supplies:
Chalkboard Spray Paint ($2.50 clearance at Michaels)
12 Chipboard Pennants (from $1.50 for 4 from StudioCee)
I sprayed them all down with two coats.
Let them dry for a day.
Then using Sisal Twine, I weaved in & out through the pennants, wrote on them, and hung them!
I'm still thinking about what to creatively write on it next...
for now, it still says "chalkboard" and stares at me mockingly with the fact that I have nothing better to write.
Any ideas?

aw this is so cute!!! i am in love with your mantle. i hope our next house has one!
btw, how do you get the little linky party buttons in your post?? i need that!!
Yup. You are awesome! That turned out super cute and looks so good with your whole mantle display!
As for text... humm... how about "summer lovin"?!
Wow! I LOVE that! And it can be used for any occasion (or non-occasion) ever! Love love love it.
So funny! I was like "Does that chalkboard pennant seriously say chalkboard?" I like your idea though cause you can just change it up to "canada day" or "happy birthday" or whatever without making a million pennants to get all tangled up in a drawer somewhere.
Just the CUTEST! Thanks for sharing your etsy source too! My grand-boys will be visiting me from Ottawa for the whole summer, so I think this would make a GREAT rainy day craft!
well - on fathers day it could say "love u dad" and for now it could read "blessed nest", since you love the birdies.
Great idea... I'd love for you to come and share this at my link party today. So clever!

I'm crafty....and I've never made a pennant banner...but LOVE the chalkboard!
This is adorable! So simple and SO cute!
Love! I'm making one of these for sure! I think it should say your family name or the month and day maybe? How about "summer time". Oh the possiblities! Please stop by and link up to my party this weekend at http://designergarden.blogspot.com/2011/06/vip-party-18.html

I love this banner! Neat way to use chalkboard paint. I buy the chalkboard paint in a can, it's way cheaper and goes further. But this would be faster for sure! ~Heidi
Love it so much I featured it today at my Hookin Up with HoH Party!
