A few days ago I told you about how we were approved to adopt a rescue pup from a nearby shelter.
On Wednesday we picked him up.
And crazy ensued.
Are you ever really prepared for a puppy?
I read so many articles and asked for so much advice.
Pressure was ON to get it right once we got home.
Day 1 (just the afternoon) - PURE CRAZY and many accidents (luckily he was pee pad trained).
Day 2 - Accident in the crate overnight, but otherwise NO accidents all day. Started catching on that outside is an OK place to "go".
Day 3 - had a couple accidents in the morning, then back to routine, and was on track all day!
Pretty remarkable.
Keeping in mind, he's nearly 4 months old (we think?)...so he's had lots of time to pick up bad habits.
Luckily, he's a smart boy and we're working hard to give him a successful start.
Even if I'm completely exhausted.
Who cares.
Look at this guy!
Love him.
OH MY HEART!
his ears flap in the wind...can it get ANY better?
Learning about crate training.
aka: "The Waffle House"
He actually loves it and it's been a huge part of his success.
Keep any puppy tips coming!
I love hearing what you all have to tell me.

oh my goodness Sarah. He is adorable. Truly. I totally get the ears flapping in the wind thing. Ears are the BEST part of a dog. So soft and silky...Ok, I'm weird but whatever! Waffles is adorable and destined to be the centre of a LOT of great family memories. Congratulations!
so cute!
Cannot wait until Friday when we get to meet him!!!!
He is adorable! Congrats on ur furry baby!! :)

Waaaaffles!!! I just yelled that out. Chris was confused why I was yelling "waffles".
Awww what a cutie. The Waffle House is so silly :)
LOL @ the waffle house!!!!! HAHA!! I'm dying here. Floppy ears are the best!! :)
We crate trained both of our dogs and it worked wonderfully. They totally like it, and it gives them a place of their own - like a den. In order to make sure he doesn't continue to have any accidents in the crate you have to make sure the crate is small enough that they can't go in one end and lay in the other. They will not go where they have to lay unless it's a total emergency. So you may need to block a section of the crate off if it continues to be a problem, just so he doesn't have the opportunity to get away from it. Other than that, good luck! It'll work quickly too!
eeek!! He's adorable... I can feel my puppy thoughts starting to swirl&grow...must close your blog now! Have fun with the little guy. The kids must be over the MOON!
